For High-Achieving Women and LGBTQ+ Clients Navigating Divorce in Richmond
You worked so hard to build the life you thought you were supposed to have. And now you're:
- Questioning every decision. Whether to stay, leave, date again, move out, tell the kids, keep the house, answer the text, or trust your own gut for the first time in a long time.
- Trying to co-parent while managing resentment, legal stress, financial fear, or the emotional exhaustion of constantly being the "responsible one."
- Showing up to work, answering emails, attending meetings, and checking things off your to-do list while internally feeling completely unraveled.
- Lying awake replaying conversations, wondering if you're asking for too much, being too emotional, or somehow failing at all of this.
- Realizing how much of your life has been spent taking care of everyone else's needs... and not even knowing what you want anymore.
- Wondering who you are outside of this relationship, this role, this version of yourself you've worked so hard to maintain.
On the outside, you're handling it. On the inside, you feel anxious, untethered, and deeply tired.
I work with high-achieving women and LGBTQ+ clients navigating the identity shifts, grief, resentment, relief, and self-doubt that come with separation and divorce. You don't just want to get through this. You want to rebuild your life in a way that actually feels like yours.

Divorce Has a Way of Bringing Old Patterns to the Surface
People-pleasing gets louder.
Your nervous system feels constantly activated.
Childhood dynamics suddenly make more sense.
You may realize how long you've been over-functioning, adapting, or shrinking yourself to keep things steady.
As a trauma-informed therapist in Richmond, I help you untangle:
- The roles you took on in the relationship
- The parts of you that felt silenced
- The anxiety that won't seem to settle
- The guilt that shows up when you prioritize yourself
This work has nothing to do with blame. This is about reclaiming yourself.

Meet Brittany Deutch, LPC, ATR-BC
I'm a licensed professional counselor and board-certified art therapist who has been working in mental health since 2012.
I specialize in therapy for high-achieving women and LGBTQ+ clients navigating divorce, anxiety, trauma, and identity shifts.
Two credentials. One therapeutic relationship.
My LPC license (Virginia Board of Counseling) covers evidence-based clinical therapy. My ATR-BC credential (Art Therapy Credentials Board) means I'm also trained and certified in art therapy as a clinical modality. Most practitioners hold one or the other. Holding both lets me offer something genuinely integrated.
I'm not a blank-slate therapist. I don't just hand you worksheets.
I show up authentically, offer practical tools, and gently call you forward when you're ready.
Divorce can feel destabilizing. Therapy can help you feel steady again.
